Divine manifestation originates from the Creator or Source, so determining the beginning of its existence is impossible in human terms. Having said that, the concept has been practiced and studied as far back as there are written records to describe it: Ancient and wise civilizations including Alexandria, Lemuria, Atlantis and the associated great minds of Plato and Aristotle astutely understood and practiced these divine universal principles; Egyptian, Asian and Greek cultures were masters at divine manifestation; Rosicrucians, Freemasons, and some of the most brilliant minds of early modern periods like Copernicus, Sir Isaac Newton, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin used and understood the principles of divine manifestation.
Hermetics
Hermetics is an ancient philosophy and practice of divine manifestation -- incorporating alchemy, angelic assistance, numerology, cryptology, astrology and a host of other spiritual concepts into the journey Home – based on the teachings of an ancient Egyptian spiritual master, Hermes Trismegistus. He was associated with the Egyptian god Thoth and Greek god Hermes. The study and practice of Hermetics was considered taboo by organized religions and political groups. Thus, the divine philosophy was primarily passed down to students orally by Hermetic masters. Hermetic teachings were conducted in secret with the students’ lips sealed about the principles – hence the modern phrase “hermetically sealed.”
The Kybalion
Hermes Trysmegistus’ teachings were written in an ancient work called the Emerald Tablet, then again in an early 1900s work entitled The Kybalion, which was written by three anonymous students of Hermetics who called themselves the Three Initiates.
The Kybalion sets out Seven Divine Principles of manifestation:
- Mentalism -- The All is mind and the Universe is mental. One's Higher Self is connected with the All, the Divine Creator.
- Correspondence -- As Above, So Below. Every universal law has equal applicability in the physical, mental and spiritual planes. One's thoughts can create matter, energy, physical and emotional realities in the physical plane just as we can in the mental or spiritual planes.
- Vibration -- Everything is energy and vibrates at varying levels; Hermetists manifest by accelerating or decelerating vibrational rates.
- Polarity – Everything in the Universe exists in duality, there are no opposites, only varying degrees along poles. For example fear exists at the lowest end of the pole; courage exists at the highest end. Hermetists manifest desires by changing lower end vibrations to higher end vibrations.
- Rhythm – The Universe operates in rhythms similar to a pendulum; By staying at the high end, Hermetists control moods and thoughts in order to manifest the desired outcome.
- Cause and Effect -- There are no coincidences; All cause has an effect and all effect has a cause (ie. Karma).
- Gender -- Everything has masculine and feminine energies that are interdependent, equally powerful, and require balance, from the Godhead to inanimate objects.
While this is a condensed version of the Kybalion principles, one can identify the common threads found among the various ancient as well as new age philosophies. The origination of manifestation is divinely rooted and continues to enter modern day stream of consciousness in greater volume and with greater force. As society enters a collective state of greater awareness, each individual becomes more enlightened and is able to put the divine manifestation principles to work in not only his or her own life, but for the greater good of humanity.
